What is Ascended essence?

Ascended essence is an item used in the creation of a masterwork bow . It is made by using any undyed and intact ascension crossbows (main-hand or off-hand ) on a dragonkin anvil at the dragon forge , a process which requires level 99 Smithing ; new, partially degraded, and augmented can all be used. In total, two units of essence are required to make one masterwork bow. A partially degraded crossbow below 50% will give a single ascended essence.
